"Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home" Betamax Tape

This week's featured item is a Star Trek movie in a format new to Zach Trek:

Betamax tapes, often just called "Beta" tapes were released by Sony in 1975, two years before the VHS cassette came on the scene. Although the VHS became dominant in the famous battle between the two formats, Sony did not halt production of Betamax players until 2002.

• Zach Trivia: "Beta" is the Japanese word used to describe the way the signals were recorded onto the tape.
